@Lingo Bingo Dingo: I am not familiar with that sense, and I don't see it listed in my usual references. Looks like that was added recently by Fish bowl. In truth I haven't seen 鷲 by itself yet, but the compounds I listed at least are common. 太平洋の鷲 seems to be a usage in a movie title but I'm not sure. —Fish bowl (talk) 21:41, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
