Consonants and punctuation

[edit]

@Wyang, HappyMidnight: Hi. Not sure how important but punctuation symbols interfere with the transliteration of consonants on syllable boundaries.

Aenimeol Peullaenis-eun
planet (topic)

Dear Atitarev, here I attached a voice file of this sentence, listen please. So, ("Peullaenis-eun") and (expecting Bor"-eul) are right, I think. HappyMidnight (talk) 11:21, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@HappyMidnight: Thanks for the recording and the usage notes, I know that this is the expected pronunciation and the right transliteration (without "-", ", etc.). I was just letting Wyang (Frank) know that inserting these symbols changes the transliteration from Peullaenis-eun (correct) to Peullaenit-eun (incorrect) and keeping you in the loop (informed) about this discussion. We can abandon the punctuation altogether if it's too hard or impossible to fix. Please note that we also use symbol ^ to capitalise transliterations (romaja) when necessary with no effect on the Korean text. BTW, I no longer insist that Korean romaja should be capitalised. I can't really find good sources saying that Romaja should be capitalised on prpper nouns, beginning of sentences, etc. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 11:42, 12 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Atitarev Hi Anatoli. This is not easy to fix... although not absolutely unfixable, but I will need to write another function... The much easier method though, would be to just remove these punctuations in the romanisation. What do you think? Wyang (talk) 01:04, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang: OK, thanks, let's leave it as is then. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 04:28, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I've set the module to remove these punctuation marks. Wyang (talk) 05:47, 13 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
