Definition[edit]

@KevinUp Bonjour. The notes in MoE Yitizi Zidian [1] says "是「須」作「等待」義時,「𩓣」即其本字。故「𩓣」可收為「須」之異體。" 𩓣 is a variant of 須, but only of 須's "to wait" sense; the etymology 2 is the same thing as etymology 1. And that 䇓 is a main form in MoE Yitizi Zidian does not mean that 䇓 is orthodox in Taiwan. Dokurrat (talk) 03:49, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Dokurrat: Wow. How fascinating. Turns out () also has a sense of "to wait" but it wasn't mentioned on its wiktionary page. Is there a better translation of the following sentence: "【教育部異體字字典】收錄「䇓」為正字,「𩓣」則收錄為異體字。" By the way, the meaning of 𰩧 (, “to stand and wait”) and 𩓣 (, “to wait”) are almost the same. How shall we deal with this? @Justinrleung: If possible, please compare between 《教育部異體字字典》 and 漢語大字典. Both characters are quite similar in composition. 𩓣 () is the original character found in Shuowen. KevinUp (talk) 13:05, 31 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Dokurrat, KevinUp: () seems to be the most common way this word is written. The "wait" sense is also included in 須's entry in Xiandai Hanyu Cidian, Xiandai Hanyu Guifan Cidian and Cross Straits Dictionary. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 10:18, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
