Since there's been some discussion of this, I'm not changing anything yet. We list a trisyllabic pronunciation for Brit.E, but w/o putting in the schwas or syllabicity marks that AFAIK we usually put in in such cases. The UK sound file matches neither pronunciation. Which is it supposed to be? kwami 01:07, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, changed. Added the schwas. kwami 09:12, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Some non-Scottish Brits say it like "Weddensday". To me it sounds very posh. Equinox 17:04, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think the normal Scottish pronunciation should be /ˈwɛdn̩zde/ rather than /ˈwɛʔənzde/. i.e. trisyllabic with a vocalic n (and alveolar d’s), similar to the n in German guten /ˈɡuːtn̩/. Some people might say /ˈwɛʔənzde/, but it would be regarded as a bit uncouth. --Caoimhin (talk) 11:00, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
