I'm not sure. The reference I cited speaks of "examples from Kromanti and its[sic] reflexes in the contemporary Ghanaian language Akan" before listing anansi as the word for spider in both languages. A word that is derived from or is the source of another word is still "cognate to" it, isn't it? But change it if you like. - -sche (discuss) 04:37, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
