Part of speech[edit]

De.Wikt calls this an "Indefinitpronomen, mit adjektivischer Deklination" (indefinite pronoun with adjectival declension). The Duden calls it a "Pronomen und Zahlwort" (pronoun and numeral). - -sche (discuss) 21:53, 24 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

At least in the sense "zweiter" it shouldn't be indefinite, but something else (ordinal numeral or adjective). It's declined and used similar to an adjective, but Englishmen might say that "anderer" as in "der eine sagt dies und der andere sagte das" is a pronoun as it doesn't precede a noun. However, other adjectives could then be pronouns too, as "der große Junge sagte dies, der kleine [scil. Junge] das." -03:38, 9 May 2016 (UTC)
