pronunciation[edit]

(cross-posted from talk:breatharianism .... well, i just noticed that the word air doesnt appear in this word. I have only heard this word spoken out loud once, and didnt know the spelling, but i got the impression it was intended to be "breathe-AIR-ianism", and when i did come across it in print i assumed the lack of the e after breath was just to conform to normal English spelling conventions. But both the pronunciation and our etymology suggest that air is not involved in this word at all. Thoughts? Soap 13:02, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

The word doesn't come from "breathe air", but "breath" + "-arian", similar to vegetarian, fruitarian, and meatarian. 2600:1006:B171:35A1:0:28:5899:2F01 22:35, 26 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
