dalawang pasigan

I would like to ask where "dalawa" is in this etymology. As stated at Tagalog Borrowings and Cognates, dalampasig came from "dalan ng pasigan" which meant sand path. dalan is probably an old Tagalog word derived from Malay jalan which got sound shifted to dalan in Tagalog. This word has survived in other Philippine languages as dalan but the /l/ was dropped later on to be "daan" like "bulan" -> "buan" -> "buwan" then.

The right etymology should be "dalan" + "-m-" + "pasig" + "an."

@Ysrael214: By the way, if you add something in a talk page in a word entry like this without tagging anyone, most likely no one would see it, unlike in community portals. As for your question, I edited the etymology just now. By the way, we don't get to decide which one is the correct etymology. We compile all the theorized etymologies published, we can suggest some of our own, we can list the most likely at the beginning, but we don't exclude published etymologies because they sound unlikely, but if another scholar comments on how a certain etymology is unlikely due to certain reasons, or when there are specific linguistic reasons why a certain etymology would be unlikely, we can add that to the etymology, and we let the users of Wiktionary decide. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 13:36, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
