It appears in lots of old dictionaries of slang, some of which indicate that it is cockney or from the north of England, and appears to be related to upset someone's applecart, but I can find no actual usages. I suspect it is not so much a set phrase as a metaphoric meaning for apple-cart (applecart?).Kiwima (talk) 12:05, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
