cited. Older dictionaries give the definition of "nullify", which is easier to distinguish from "evacuate". I have added cites that support that definition. There are plenty of cites that support the original definition of "to empty", but they could just as easily be typos for evacuate. In fact, in at least one case (a Shakespeare quote) the one that uses evacate stands alone with many other works giving evacuate. The quote by Harvey, which I did not add, is given in one dictionary as Dry air opens the furnace of the earth to disincarcerate venene bodies, or to evacate them.. (Is that William Harvey?)
