Keene (talkcontribs)'s definition "rare and scarce" is crappy. --Rockpilot 18:29, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why? 86.183.2.73 20:07, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps because (deprecated template usage) rare and (deprecated template usage) scarce are synonyms in the applicable sense, whereas the expression implies something beyond mere rarity or scarcity, perhaps being "hard to find". DCDuring TALK 21:13, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

compositional

[edit]

Isn't this one easily understood compositionally from it's parts of speech? --Backinstadiums (talk) 16:39, 28 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

thick and fast

[edit]

Isn't it an antonym? JMGN (talk) 23:19, 5 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

@JMGN: No, not quite. Thick and fast conveys two qualities, the number and the rate (rapid), whereas few and far between is just associated with a number. To be an antonym all qualities need to be inverted. ‑‑ Kai Burghardt (talk) 21:08, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
