I'm sceptical about the etymology too. I think this is yet another case of taking a rare error or nonce form (perhaps a blend with ripple or something) and trying to retrofit Anglo-Saxon onto it. Equinox ◑ 20:34, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
