Old English. This seems to be unattested and should be moved to *fyxen; the OED dutifully prepends a asterisk to it in its entry for vixen, and it is absent from both Bosworth-Toller and the Dictionary of Old English. To avoid confusion, it's worth noting that a adjective fyxen (related to foxes) does actually appear to be attested. Hazarasp (parlement · werkis) 17:11, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
