Dutch Etymology[edit]

@Lingo Bingo Dingo Normally when ge- is prefixed to a verb to make a neuter noun, the resulting noun indicates the action of the verb directly, like gezeur, geloop, gedoe etc. This word doesn't seem to fit into that pattern, so it may well be old. What do you think? —Rua (mew) 12:54, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WNT has this etymology: "Van Missen, in twee verschillende opvattingen, met het voorv. Ge- in den zin van gedurige herhaling (III, 3)." —Rua (mew) 12:57, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Rua Good catch. The word also appears in the VMNW. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 13:05, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
