Lungs and lights
[edit]If lights means "lungs", how can he say "lungs and lights"?? This is the etymology I've always heard for "punch your lights out", but now I'm suspicious. —Soap— 03:19, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
- Since the lungs were called "lights" because they are light organs. It's possible that in Spenser's day the term encompassed other light organs, or he's just being redundant. - -sche (discuss) 05:00, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
