Split etymology

It seems quite unlikely that the second mullet isn't directly related to the name of the fish. Why are they separated in two separate (blank) etymologies?

Heraldic meaning

In heraldry, it refers to a star. Not obviously related either to the fish or to the hairstyle. Does it come from the same root as either of these, or is it a third etymology to add? -- Smjg 16:40, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
