Dealy?

[edit]

In the etymology section I read, among other things: "from perimō (“destroy, dealy”)".

I do not recognize "dealy" as a verb. Now, "delay" is a verb, but I cannot see any confirmation in e.g. for that meaning in http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.04.0059%3Aentry%3Dperimo. That dictionary gives the meanings "kill" and "slay", which are related to "deadly" (with two d's). But again, that is not a verb.

What is it that the author meant to say here?Redav (talk) 20:15, 14 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Redav: "slay" would work (as a scanno-type error). Conceivably "decay" (I doubt it). I've removed that word since it does look like an error. Equinox 11:09, 22 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
