Chambers 1908 defines prickle-back (hyphenated) as a stickleback, not (I think) the same as what we have here, though it's still a fish. Equinox 23:43, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Well, the overwhelming usage on Google Books and Google Scholar is for the stichaeids, but there are enough uses as a term for sticklebacks to justify a second sense, which I added. There's also a couple of species of mayflies, but everything I can find for those traces back to one publication. Chuck Entz (talk) 06:46, 29 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
