Sin

[1] @ 3:43 is Jordan Peterson (the booming boomer) commenting about the sin of pride. I will say myself that I have always been deeply confused about what part of pride is the sinful part and what part of pride is the positive part. Pious Christian teaching is kind of out there in the background saying 'pride is a sin' with a tiny voice, but every part of USA society is 'taking pride' in this that or the other- pride in the American flag or pride in sexual orientation or pride in oneself etc etc. I assume the sin falls under the first definition, but it's too hard for me to identify or understand clearly what the original concept is. The point being, I was looking to Wiktionary for definitional help on this issue, but I am still at a loss here- not sure what would help. If "Proud or disdainful behavior or treatment" is the sin- I can understand 'disdainful' but I still don't understand the 'proud' adjective. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 20:01, 1 July 2022 (UTC)
