Possible missing sense[edit]
Chambers 1908 has "the sugar-cane in the field after the first year". Not clear whether this means refuse (normal crop stubble) or not. Equinox ◑ 17:13, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- I believe that, while most cereal stubble is burnt off, or ploughed in, the sugarcane ratoons are left to grow again for another year. SemperBlotto (talk) 17:17, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
