American variant as the dominant one

I think all the senses of the word, as well as the translations, should be equally displayed on the page for 'theatre', given that this is the original spelling of the world and the native one for a lot of people. If the first place, you are welcome to copy the senses to theatre. Secondly, the American spelling is the original English spelling. The British began to adopt the French spelling around 1700 because they thought French was especially erudite. The Americans brought this gallicized spelling with them to America, but then reverted to the original and more proper English spelling, which is theater. —Stephen ^(Talk) 01:57, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

I don't know if this was standard practice in 2012, but all mirroring and doubling of information should be avoided. It creates tons of useless additional work and, even more harmefully, inevitable inconsistencies. 92.218.236.20 21:21, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

Though you might not think that it is valuable, this spelling is important and the article worth keeping intact. If you disagree, please take it up in a suitable forum before deleting large chunks of it. Robbie SWE (talk) 08:41, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

Another pronunciation
