this year's[edit]

isn't this the prime example of a possessive form we do not include? -- Prince Kassad 04:06, 23 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think so. Would this year make sense in some wiki's phrasebook, should there be a wiki that has one? DCDuring TALK 04:11, 23 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Delete for "this year's" and no for "this year". On the other hand, who cares, we already have this time, this morning and this evening, but interestingly this month, this week, this minute and this second are missing. --Hekaheka 09:03, 23 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Call me crazy but I reckon this year is idiomatic; after all, you're not just indicating any year that could be "this", but rather the year we are currently in, if that makes sense. As for this year's, that should be definitely be deleted as SoP, since we don't keep "'s" entries unless the meaning is different, e.g. butcher's, baker's, etc. ---> Tooironic 11:10, 25 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Very strong delete indeed. Mglovesfun (talk) 21:48, 27 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Delete. And this year is SOP; “the current” is one of the more common uses of this. (To Hekaheka's examples one could add "this season", as well as "this school year", "this fiscal year", "this calendar year", and so on.) —RuakhTALK 19:03, 28 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
