Maybe influenced by the gerund being tying much more commonly than tieing. Perhaps there are citations to support this, or perhaps this usage is not sufficiently found to justify an entry. Arlo Barnes (talk) 23:36, 6 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Never seen it myself. No Google Books matches for "ty a knot". And other verbs do this, e.g. die. Equinox 23:43, 6 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
