Is this a word that is actually used? Google books has results, but they don't seem to refer to the device mentioned here. A google search shows the word being used little outside of Wikipedia with the intended meaning. I also don't think the devices are in current production and something only a countable number of people use. The Wikipedia article on them is misleading. Is "Disabled World" durably archived? It looks like a website to me. —Granger (talk · contribs) 22:02, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That depends on whether you count pamphlets as durably archived. Kiwima (talk) 04:27, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have to imagine they normally wouldn't be. Are copies of this pamphlet held at a significant number of libraries, or is there any other reason to believe it will still be findable decades from now? —Granger (talk · contribs) 10:56, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
How odd to stumble onto a discussion of this obscure piece of furniture that I happen to be very familiar with and, in fact, quite fond of. I can't speak to even having heard this term used in the listed contexts, but while I was growing up my parents had one to make puttering around the backyard more decadent and not long ago I decided to go shopping for one to keep in my own backyard. To me they're not mobility assist devices in anything but a recreational sense, but rather an esoteric sort of patio/outdoor furniture. Here's a link to the one that I settled on purchasing, to demonstrate that they do exist as I describe them and are widely distributed despite being little-known. —RogueScholar (talk) 00:45, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I found a patent application that included the sentence from the Disabled World pamphlet verbatim. While it may have been plagiarism on the part of the patent applicant, it is now in a durably archived source, so this is now cited Kiwima (talk) 23:50, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
