Interesting reusable examples of phonetic respellings

[edit]

(Notifying Stephen G. Brown, Wyang, Octahedron80): : Just sharing some methods.

At ឧម្មុង្គ (ʼummong) using {{km-IPA|អ៊ុម-ម៉ុង}} uses the following tricks to get the transliteration ʾummong:

  1. respelling of an independent vowel (ʼoʼ) with the combination អ៊ុ
  2. a-series (ʼɑɑ) is converted to o-series with the diacritic ()
  3. o-series (mɔɔ) is converted to a-series with the diacritic ()
  4. hyphen "-" makes the syllabification easier

@Atitarev Great! This is absolutely correct. It has a variant ឧម្មង្គ (ʼummɑng), which is the form the Chuon Nath dictionary lemmatised this word on. Two respellings were given in the Chuon Nath entry: អ៊ុម-ម៉ង់, អ៊ុម-ម៉ុង, agreeing with the result of your method. Wyang (talk) 07:01, 8 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang: Thank you. The more examples we find, the easier it will be to convert any word and any combination. WT:KM TR and your examples are really helpful. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 07:07, 8 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
