Using the right Phi

[edit]

This letter is used in so many scripts and technical fields that Unicode has a number of versions. Apparently you're using one from mathematics, ϕ, which is not the Ancient Greek one, φ. That means that the links you create don't go to the actual entries. For instance, you added δορυϕόρος (doruphóros) to Ancient Greek δόρυ (dóru), but the Ancient Greek entry you meant to link to is at δορυφόρος (doruphóros). Notice that the first is a redlink, but the second isn't. If anyone were to use the redlink to create an entry we would have a misspelled lookalike that would just confuse people. It's confusing enough with things like Russian ново (novo) that has nothing to do with English hobo. Please be more careful. Thanks! Chuck Entz (talk) 18:46, 19 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
