• Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.

Please see WT:NOT, WT:REDIR, and WT:CFI before redirecting things because they're not in dictionaries. Can you be sure that no language in the world uses the spelling "zettelkasten", or that no one ever uses the word "Zettelkasten" as English? I can find examples such as "a tendency toward a Zettelkasten format", which look like English to me. The correct thing to do in a case such as this would be to tag the entry with {{rfv|en}}, and preferably post an explanation at WT:RFVE so that others can check whether there's English usage. Thanks! @Chuck Entz: Your example supports my point: in your quote, "a tendency toward a Zettelkasten format", the word is capitalized like a German noun, because that's what it is! But I now see that Wiktionary has very low standards for determining when something becomes English. Basically anything that can be shown to appear in an English sentence in three instances becomes English! That's astonishingly inclusive. Biogeographist (talk) 13:39, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
