conjugation templates

Please don't create conjugation templates for single verbs (e.g. circoncire). That's what {{fr-conj}} and {{fr-conj-table}} are for. Otherwise, welcome to the English wiktionary! Circeus 19:05, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Right, that seems reasonable. However, I reckon it might be better to collect all differently-conjugated verbs together (at Category:French conjugation templates). Even if they only have one verb in that verb group. So, we could have {{fr-conj-être}} and {{fr-conj-clore}} even if they are so irregular that they have no others following the pattern. --Dilated pupils 19:10, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The idea of having templates is that they can be used on more than one page to reproduce a regular formatting. As such, conjugation templates for verbs like (deprecated template usage) clore are of little usefulness and mostly create unnecessary work if they have to be corrected for whatever reason (cf. the trouble that "fixing" {{fr-conj-souvenir}} was). Fair point. I'm meaning to add conjugation tables to all the French verbs eventually. The ones left over are the tricky ones and defective ones and reflexive ones that different sources give different conjugations for. --Dilated pupils 19:58, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Reflexive verbs are a thorny issue (I'm currently thinking the best option is to refer to a section in Wiktionary:About French), if only because it's not fully clear ATM whether they ought to be at entries with or without their pronoun. I started a discussion on the talk page of Robert Ullmann (talkcontribs) regarding that, though nobody has gotten involved yet. Circeus 21:59, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
