Stop removing stuff[edit]

Don't just remove legit stuff, okay? Allahverdi Verdizade (talk) 14:26, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hey. Per WT:VANDAL, I have removed a series of edits by various sockpuppets of Wikimedia abuser Tirgil34 (see WP:Tirgil34). I'm trying to preserve the legit stuff, but Tirgil34's edits cover such a varied amount of languages that mistakes are hard to avoid. Cheers. Krakkos (talk) 16:11, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
OK, at this point I think you should just stop editing, you clearly don't know what you are doing. Allahverdi Verdizade (talk) 17:15, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
That content was added by Hirabutor, a sock of Tirgil34.[1][2] (The IP belongs to him) Krakkos (talk) 17:21, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
1) The Azerbaijani entry that you removed was created by me 2) I don't care who created what, you can't remove stuff unless you know it's incorrect. What exactly in the Turkish entry is incorrect? Allahverdi Verdizade (talk) 17:43, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
I saw Tirgil34 added the Azerbaijani entry with his IP[[3]. I couldn't see in the revision history that it was your creation. If the Turkish entry is correct it should stay. Krakkos (talk) 18:04, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
This IP, the one that added the Azeri entry, looks very different from the one behind "The IP belongs to him". — surjection?18:06, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
It is possible for vandals to add good things sometimes. Please remove based on the correctness of the content, not on the (supposed) identity of the person who did it! Equinox 18:09, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the pointers. I will be more careful in the future. Krakkos (talk) 19:03, 11 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Please remember that this isn't Wikipedia, and our differences from Wikipedia aren't simply from ignorance. We've been aware of who Hirabutor is for a number of years, but we have chosen not to block him except when he misbehaves here. Yes, it's a good idea not to automatically trust his good faith in things like etymologies and certain entries that are related to his agenda, but there are lots of things that don't fit that description. As long as we choose not to block him, w:WP:BANREVERT should be left behind when you come here from Wikipedia. Removing good content because of what someone did somewhere else is just as destructive as actual vandalism. Chuck Entz (talk) 05:04, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for clearing that up. Regarding misbehavior by Hirabutor on Wiktionary, it might be of note that he is still engaged in sockpuppetry here through accounts such as At Yaragi,[4] Sickbasa[5] and Sibir Husky.[6] In the future, i will be more careful when evaluating content. I don’t see any valuable edit amongst the ones you did, you don’t evaluate on Wikipedia in the sense that is customary to Wiktionary. Attacking the whole by attacking the reference does not work here. You also left empty sections like when removing {{R:SDM}} – a removal that never made sense; the mere reference does not promote anything –, or left behind the information while removing the reference, this all based on the Wikipedia assumption that everything is based on references. Altaic has been a valid language code on Wiktionary until some months ago, and reconstructing Proto-Turkic should not be that hard, and can also be done with Altaicist references while dismissing the Altaic parts; and note that in fact Wiktionary often writes the opposite of what is in the references, because the materials compels so. Foremost we try to find words in various languages, references are secondary but the words should just exist and reconstructions should ensue from them, and few people are so rogue as to introduce ghost words – words are to be removed after a fast check if some editor is specifically known to habitually introduce them, but you have not argued that, and “such a varied amount of languages that mistakes are hard to avoid” isn’t a reason either, here it is rather the norm to understand ten languages and ten related ones. References are nice but also short and cannot support contradictions unlike on Wikipedia and you should dismiss the assumption that Wiktionary editors draw everything from them. Wiktionary is a secondary source. Wiktionary:Wiktionary for Wikipedians. Your edits should all be undone by yourself. Fay Freak (talk) 10:21, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the advice. Most of the additions by Tirgil34 here have already been removed by other editors than me. Some of my removals were however done too hastily. I have already reverted some of these removals. I will review more of them in the coming future. Cheers. Krakkos (talk) 12:24, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
