Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wiktionary. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wiktionarian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk (discussion) and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~, which automatically produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the beer parlour or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! — Vildricianus 12:18, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have formatted this entry for you. Our formats were described in those welcome links. SemperBlotto 07:34, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for cleaning the egg off my face :-) I did browse all the Welcome pages, tried the sandbox and wrote my own page first. Then I read the format page fairly well, and I even found and studied the part pres template, but I could not quite figure out how to copy a template as a base for a new page. And the gerund I had no idea of - formal grammar is not my strength. So thanks again. --Ronja Addams-Moring 08:02, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hint: Type "exchanges" in the search box (in the left-most column) and press "[Go]". This will present a table of available preload templates... use the word's ending to figure out which one to select (in this case, "3rd person".) --Connel MacKenzie T C 08:08, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
YESSS! That was the functionality I tried to find! Thank you, Connel, this will be very useful in the future. Where in the Welcome pages was this trick explained? Must have missed it... --Ronja Addams-Moring 08:30, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is a pretty new feature that hasn't been documented properly yet. Some of the preload templates need improvement still. And they may all be replaced soon (next month) by Something Better still...stay tuned. --Connel MacKenzie T C 08:33, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
