sentence to death

Why an entry for this? It's sum of parts. Like "sentence to six weeks' community service". Equinox ◑ 01:55, 10 November 2021 (UTC)

@Equinox It seemed logical, as we also have death sentence. Webster also has it, but lists condemn to death as a synonym which I've never heard. There's a fair amount of evidence that sentenced to death and even condemned to death are very common compared to common variables for community service. Although, while "community service sentence" seems like a grammatically correct collocation, death sentence seems far more like a set phrase in that regard than sentence to death. I'd argue sentence to death is in the territory of being a set phrase, though. RFD it if you want. PseudoSkull (talk) 02:07, 10 November 2021 (UTC)

We should be stingy about including "collocations" and "set phrases". We are not a corpus. I noticed your "focus on one's career" as well, which makes me wonder if you're about to embark on an SoP spree. Please don't! Equinox ◑ 02:09, 10 November 2021 (UTC)

You are probably right about the RfV being hasty, though I have been trying to verify this thing since July. I'm not looking to get it removed, just to get more eyes looking for recent usage. And by the way, my reading of the policy is not that we need three more cites, but that we need at least one after December 2021, along with at least two others. Opinions may vary. How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. Please don't create low quality entries

This is how the entry for McHell looked before I revamped it: https://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=McHell&oldid=69516137

Here are the issues:

• Random spaces before punctuation, clearly showing you just copied and pasted without making the bare minimum of effort to format them.
• The second citation is completely incoherent.
• Unecessary sentence fragments at the beginning and end of quotes ("Arches upwards of 500 times")⁠—just chop them off.
• The third citation appears to quote from another article, thus not making it the correct source to cite.
• The second and third citations don't have any information aside from the magazine name (I could not find any information about the Restaurant Business article so I've removed it)
• The dates are not in order.
• Most importantly, none of the citations show the word "McHell" being used as a synonym of McDonalds. (although I did manage to revive the sense using Usenet cites)

See the current iteration of McHell as an example of how an entry should look.

This is exactly why we cannot automate quote creation with "JS or Lua". I hope I'm not being too harsh—just spend a tiny bit more time on your work and I promise Wiktionary will be the better off for it.
