Edinotice[edit]

  • If you you think I've done something wrong, check what I've done again before you say that I've done something wrong, report or block me.
  • If your message gets deleted by me, DON'T say the same thing again or I'll warn you from doing so, and IF you do it again, than I'll report you.
  • Please only send me messages in your subject which you could name it with your username and ONLY talk to me there.

Your note at the top of your talk page[edit]

First off:

Hello, welcome to Wiktionary, and thank you for your contributions so far.

If you are unfamiliar with wiki-editing, take a look at Help:How to edit a page. It is a concise list of technical guidelines to the wiki format we use here: how to, for example, make text boldfaced or create hyperlinks. Feel free to practice in the sandbox. If you would like a slower introduction we have a short tutorial.

These links may help you familiarize yourself with Wiktionary:

  • Entry layout (EL) is a detailed policy on Wiktionary's page formatting; all entries must conform to it. The easiest way to start off is to copy the contents of an existing same-language entry, and then adapt it to fit the entry you are creating.
  • Check out Language considerations to find out more about how to edit for a particular language.
  • Our Criteria for Inclusion (CFI) defines exactly which words can be added to Wiktionary; the most important part is that Wiktionary only accepts words that have been in somewhat widespread use over the course of at least a year, and citations that demonstrate usage can be asked for when there is doubt.
  • If you already have some experience with editing our sister project Wikipedia, then you may find our guide for Wikipedia users useful.
  • If you have any questions, bring them to Wiktionary:Information desk or ask me on my talk page.
  • Whenever commenting on any discussion page, please sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~) which automatically produces your username and timestamp.
  • You are encouraged to add a BabelBox to your userpage to indicate your self-assessed knowledge of languages.

Enjoy your stay at Wiktionary!

Secondly, your note may work better as an editnotice. If you agree and need help making it, please let me know. —Justin (koavf)TCM 09:19, 20 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

By the way, I didn't understand what did you try to mean in the "Secondly, your note may work better as an editnotice. If you agree and need help making it, please let me know." I clicked in it and read half of it, but I stopped and really didn't understand the edinotice either what you've had said in secondly. Do you mean that I should make the "Attention" be named "Edinotice"? UserAV666 (talk) 14:19, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
I mean that editnotices appear on pages when an editor attempts to edit them and gives notices about how to edit that page. The nice things about an editnotice are 1.) they only appear once someone tries to edit and 2.) they can't be easily deleted or changed by someone else. If you want to keep the text you have at the top of your page, that is 100% fine, but if you want it to appear as an editnotice, that is also fine, too. —Justin (koavf)TCM 18:19, 23 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
