Usage notes

Among overseas Vietnamese and along with dissidents and democracy activists in Vietnam, most often right-wing, the term Việt Cộng is used, usually derisively, to refer to a member or sympathizer of the Vietcong or the current Communist government. In Vietnam, the official term is Mặt trận Dân tộc Giải phóng miền Nam Việt Nam.
