  • (Súdwest-Fryslân) First attested as waxlinghe in the 13th century. Borrowed from West Frisian Waaksens, derived in turn from either the full or familiar form of Old Frisian Wachsa (a personal name) suffixed with the collectivising suffix -ingi-.
