December 12 is known as Wiktionary Day to Wiktionarians and Wikipedians. On this date in the year 2002, the Wiktionary was started.


To celebrate the 5-year anniversary, on December 12 2007 the new main page was published.


To celebrate the 10-year anniversary, the Word of the Day was set to tin anniversary with some Wiktionary-themed example sentences. In addition, the WMF sent the community liaison to the IRC channel at 20:00.
