Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic златьна (zlatĭna), feminine of златьнъ (zlatĭnŭ, golden), from злато (zlato) +‎ -ьнъ (-ĭnŭ) from Proto-Slavic *zolto (gold), referring to its gold mines. Compare Hungarian Zalatna.
