Etymology

First attested in 1921. Calque of Tibetan མི་སྡུག་གངས་མི (mi sdug gangs mi), from མི་སྡུག (mi sdug, repulsive, unlovely, ugly, hideous) and གངས་མི (gangs mi, snowman).
