Etymology

From horro (“free”), from Arabic حُرّ (ḥurr, “free, noble, virtuous”), possibly influenced by Latin ad, "to," + horreum, "(a/the) storehouse." Compare to English hoard, English horde and English hoar ("grey-haired, gained prestige from age").
