aldol condensation (plural aldol condensations)
- (organic chemistry) A condensation reaction in which an enol or enolate ion reacts with an aldehyde or ketone to form a β-hydroxyaldehyde or β-hydroxyketone (an aldol reaction), which is then followed by dehydration to give a conjugated enone.
