From Andalusian Arabic الإِفْرِيز (al-ʔifríz), from Arabic إِفْرِيز (ʔifrīz), apocope of Classical Syriac ܦܪܝܙܘܡܐ (pərīzōmāʾ), from Ancient Greek περίζωμα (perízōma, girdle).
