1. (aviation) An aerodrome to which a flight may proceed if landing at the intended destination becomes impossible or inadvisable.

     If an emergency landing is made elsewhere than at an international aerodrome or a designated alternate aerodrome, the pilot in command shall report the landing as promptly as possible by telephone or most convenient means to the nearest Customs office.
