From anga (handle) +‎ -azo, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Gothic or (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Suevic, from Proto-Germanic *angô (hook, angle), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂enk- (something bent, hook). Cognate with Portuguese engaço.[1]
