Etymology 2
[edit]Cognate with Old Armenian անձն (anjn, “soul, person”), possibly from Proto-Indo-European *h₂én(h₁)ǵʰō or *h₂en(h₁)ǵʰḗn (“breath”)[1], from a suffixed/extended form of the root *h₂enh₁- (“to breathe”) as in *ananą.[2]
