  1. (idiomatic, intransitive) To enquire of different people about something.
    I don't know the answer to that, but maybe someone else does - I'll ask round.
  2. (idiomatic, transitive) To invite someone to your house.
    I think I'll ask John and Betty round for supper on Friday.

Usage notes

  • In the transitive sense 2 the object may appear before or after the particle. If the object is a pronoun, then it must be before the particle.
