From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Late Latin *assōpīre (satisfy), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin sōpīre (sleep) (influenced by (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old French assevir (attain)). Doublet of assoupir.
