Inherited from Ottoman Turkish ایتمك (eyitmek), آیتمق (ayıtmak), from Old Anatolian Turkish ایتمك (eyitmek), آیتمق (ayıtmaq), ایتمك (eytmek) from Proto-Turkic *āyït-, causative of *āy- (to say).
