Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *baśkā, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰedh-sko ‎(bundle, heap). Cognate to Ancient Macedonian βάσκιοι ‎(baskioi, fasces, bundle), Ancient Greek φάσκωλος ‎(pháskōlos, leathern bag, sack), Latin fascis ‎(band, bundle) and Middle Irish basc ‎(collar, neck chain).[1]
