From Ancient Greek κακοδαίμων (kakodaímōn), from κακός (kakós, “bad, evil”) and δαίμων (daímōn, “divinity, genius”).

- A wicked or malevolent spirit as opposed to agathodemon (a good spirit).
- Twelfth astrological House, from which only evil prognostics are alleged to proceed. (Can we add an example for this sense?)
