Etymology[edit]

From Middle French chiromancie, from Latin chīromantīa, from Ancient Greek χειρομαντεία (kheiromanteía), from χειρο- (kheiro-, hand-) + μαντεία (manteía, divination, fortune-telling). Equivalent to chiro- +‎ -mancy.
