Lower Sorbian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Slavic *xytrъ (cunning, sly, wise). Cognate with Upper Sorbian chětry, Polish chytry, Czech chytrý, Old Church Slavonic хꙑтръ (xytrŭ), and Russian хи́трый (xítryj).
